Okay, I run regular scans with MSAS and PestPatrol and a couple of other
small programs, but nothing shows up. But for some reason after some time my
computer slows down and when I go into the task manager, I find multiple
instances of IEXPLORE.EXE running. I shut them down, and things speed up.
A couple of times this week, though, I've started a spyware scan, and
suddenly my screen goes dark, and the system *seems* to shut down (although
the HD light keeps flashing dimly on a *very* intermittent basis). After
waiting a little while, I have to do a hard boot on the machine, wait a
minute, then boot up again, *then* do a restart so that all my programs come
back up as they're supposed to.
Is this a spyware or virus or something else?
