Do all IR recievers for remote kb/mice use the PS2 ports?

I've been looking for a hopefully-mini remote keyboard/mouse(ball?) to
control video from the room wwhere I watch tv.

I can't really use the RF becausew the limit on all of them seems to
be 30 feet and I'm at that or above it.

So that leaves IR, adn so far it seems the IR receievers all plug into
two PS/2 ports. A) Are PS/2 ports going to stick around?
B) Even if they are, I wanted to save them for the
regular keyboard and mouse.

So the qustions are, do all IR recievers for remote kb/mice use the
PS2 ports?
And will there be PS2 ports on new machines for a long time? 5,
10, or 20 years?

Thanks.

Maybe I should have said that getting from one room to the next is
solved already for IR.

I have Powermid pyramids in every room from which I watch tv, so I can
shine the IR remote keyboard to one of them, and it will be relayed by
RF to the computer room by what I have now. (That is working well
now**.) Then the Powermid receiver in the computer room will shine
its IR light into the IR receiver that comes with or at least works
with the remote keyboard and the computer.

**Now the only plugged-in Powermid receiver is in the bedroom where
the dvdr is, but I have spare receivers, and I can put a second in the
other bedroom where the computer is.

Thanks again.
