DNS Zone transfer issue

Salman Ahmed

Hello,
I am running primary DNS server on Windows 2000 Advance
Server and it is also a DC configured with Exchange 2000.
I added ADC and configured DNS as secondary. I need to
migrate my exchange server from DC to this new ADC. For
this I succesfully migrated exchange server. Now I am
migrating my dns server but when I configured new zones in
my forward lookup zones as secondary and transfer the
zones from Master. only 1 zone is not getting transfered
and giving me the following error.

"Zone not Loaded by DNS Server
The DNS server encountered an error while attempting to
load the zone. The transfer of zone data from the master
server failed.
Please correct the problem then either press F5, or on the
Action menu, click Refresh.
For more information about troubleshootind DNS zone
problems, see online Help."

I read and work around on the article KB313563 for solving
this issue but still facing the same problem. Any help in
this regard would be highly appreciateable.

Hello,

You need to check 2 things.

1) Make sure that the SOA record exists on the primary DNS server and that
it is correct.
2) Make sure that the Respolcible Person for this SOA is set to an account
that exists in the domain.
