DNS resolver timeout when DNS server is down

Hi Everyone,

Given that a client has two DNS server IP addresses defined, in the event
that the first server is not operating correctly, I would like to know
what the Windows DNS resolver timeout is in these two situations:

1) The first DNS server specified is up, but it is responding to queries
very, very slowly.

2) The first DNS server specified is down, and not listening for queries.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I am assuming that the DNS
server being used is running BIND.

Thanks,

Ian

Doesn't matter what brand DNS server is used, since this is a DNS client
side resolver service that dictates how it resolves names.
