I will address these issues as soon as I get in. I got the IP address
from the guy who handled the IT before I got there. He may be out of
touch. If this is true it's my fault for not double checking myself.
The website is farmed out to "web solutions" which is local but has
nothing to do with our network at all.

How local is it?
Is it behind the same router or in a building that has multiple routers
connected to the same internet connection?
If it is, you likely won't be able to access the site by its public IP
address because most routers do not support making outgoing connections to
an incoming IP address. You would have to give the record in DNS the local
IP of the web server.

You are absoulutely correct. The wrong address was giving to me originally.
It's my fault for not checking myself. hey... at least I learned something.
Isn't that the point??
I thank you very very much. I am sure I will be back sometime.

How local is a good question. I was thinking the same thing. If the external
address I found is the outside WAN address of their NAT device and it's not
properly mapped, then I can see this being part of the issue.

I am curious if you find out what the exact address is and if you get it to
work.

:)

Cheers!

I deleted the old host and created the new one with the IP address 216.244.
121.10 and it worked fine.
You see, I work only part time at this place so I am not a "real" employee.
The guy who did the IT before is an artist! He feeds me this info from out
dated records. This is why I took it upon myself to do their server over.
Between this guy and the "intern" they had there before, the network was
really f***ed if you know what I mean. I had gone back to school to get a
degree in IS and did my internship at this place. Wish it would turn into
full time though.
So.....yes things are fine and I thank you again.

Cheers

Wow, I can understand inheriting a network. Well, at least you revamped the
server. I'm glad it's working for you. I wish you the best for your career.
Good field to be in.
