DNS priority

Hi,
I got a question. After I make mulit IP addresses for a domain name in DNS,
how can I set the IP priority? For example, I use 192.168.0.5 and
67.123.63.5 for same host, mail. When I ping mail, it always ping to
67.123.63.5 from my intranet. Can I set the higher priority for
192.168.0.5? Thank you.

That's interesting. Did you try pinging by it's fully qualified domain name? If you
ping -a 192.168.0.5 does it work and resolve to the correct name? By default a W2K
dns server will always return the address that is on the same subnet as the
requesting client if available otherwise it uses round robin to select the order of
IP address issuance. I don't know of a way to prioritize a non _srv host record IP
address other than use hosts file on client. --- Steve
