DNS keeps getting lost

John Warner

I moved from ME to XP Home , which was fine .
Only thing is this IE 6.0, every couple of mins i lose contact with the DNS
servers.Sometime if i ping a DNS server they will come back 0% loss one
minute and the next IE "hangs" so go back to pinging and i get 100% loss.
Because of this i can't even download things , so moving to say "FIREFOX" is
out of the question.

I want to move things to DSL but when i had ME i use a DialUp account and
everything was fine then, i want to compare "Apples to Apples" so to speak.
If I've aready spoken to my ISP and elimiated them as the problem , they
said it was probably XP's setup.

Since there are smarter people on this newgroup then Microsoft could ever
have.

HELP !!!!!!!

20 days to validation and counting.....

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you lose contact with the DNS server,
you are not connected directly to a DNS server, if you have an internet
connection supplied by an ISP they will query the DNS server.

When you say you are pinging a DNS server what exactly are you typing ?

From a comand line i type ping 209.5.206.2 and if i'm connected i get a
ping back in milisec, if i'm disconnected i get "request timed out" as a
response.
