~DNS Host with two IP addresses assigned~

Is is possible to have two ip addresses assigned to a single host name

For example

If I wanted to resolve "Host1" it would resolve to DNS IP1 and IP2

If IP1 was unvailable is there away to automatically force "Host1" to resolve to IP2. (a bit like MX mail server priority 1 to 10

Thank

You can certainly have multiple addresses fro a single A record in DNS.
However, the "automatically force" part is not DNS's job. How would DNS know
that the server on "IP1" is down and not responding and that it is then time
to start redirecting clients to the server on "IP2"? DNS is more like a
broker - you ask it for a record, it helps you find the record and give it
to you (or tell you where to find it) and its job is done. What you do with
the record after that is your responsibility.
