Dlink wifi won't work after SP2 installed.

I installed SP2 on a laptop. It's using a Dlink AG650 PCMCIA card. I can no
longer connect to my home wireless network. My access point is a Dlink
7000AP. I run an 802.11A and 11G network, and I can't connect to either. An
icon in the notification area shows:

Speed: 54msb
Signal strength: Excellent
Status: Limited or no connectivity

I use 128bit wep, my ssid is configured correctly, and I use a shared key,
also set up correctly, yet it won't connect. I'm also using the most recent
version driver for this card.

I'd heard that SP could affect wireless networks. I hope it's not permanant!

Any suggestions. I've fiddled but to no avail. I also contacted Dlink but
they have no idea of the cause. It's using most recent drivers for the card,
and the Dlink AirExpert utility that allows you to confure the settings
instead of using Windows to do makes no difference either.

Thanks for any suggestions

Yes, it was the network version of SP2. I logged an incident with Dlink
Europe level 2 support today. I hope they'll be able to give some advice.

Hi Kyle,

I re-entered the WEP keys correctly using Windows and the Dlink AirExpert
utility, but it wouldn't connect.

Additional information...

I upgraded the firmware in the access point to the latest version. No luck.
As far as I can tell, it seems like i'm connecting but not being assigned an
address via DHCP, so I end up with the wrong subnet mask.

I backed off SP2 and it all worked perfectly. Now i've re-installed so I can
keep fiddling, but still no luck.
What I find strange about the new Windows Wireless configuration is how to
set the level of encryption using WEP. Nowhere does there seem to be a way
of specifying if you are using 64bit, 128Bit or 152bit encryption. I've also
tried the access point configured as open system, open system/shared key,
shared key, and WPA with a pre-shared key. Nothing works. I think it has to
be something to do with how Windows handles DHCP through the wireless
connection.
I tried manually configuring the wireless connection to a specific IP
address and subnet within my home network. The wireless icon said I was
connected, but I couldn't get anything out of Internet Explorer.

Most puzzling. Still no help from Dlink on this.

I got it to work, through trial and error. Probably just got lucky, but all
I did was to remove the wireless network adapter using device manager,
reconnect it so Windows re-installed the driver, and my 802.11A network
allowed me to connect to it. It's using WPA-PSK. I was able to use the
802.11G network too using Shared WEP encryption.
I'm guessing that some registry keys are corrupted or damaged somehow by
installing SP2. By removing the adapter and re-installing it, perhaps the
required registry keys are re-constructed correctly.

Sorry for answering my own posts, but maybe some might find this useful.
