Distributed Transaction Coordinator error:3221229627

I recently had a problem with a Windows 2000 server
logging a Distrubuted Transaction Coordinator
error:3221229627. The problem mysteriously vanished after
a couple of resets. Wondering if anyone happens to know
the cause of this error?
