displaying report fields horizontally instead of vertically

Hi i have a database i've created to help out some family members. they have
an old app created with lotus 1-2-3 they used in their work and i was
breaking down. so i'm trying to help out. the old app used to be a
spreadsheet and it had a bunch of reports with it. i'm trying to make the new
reports look as close to the old as possible, but i'm running into a problem.
the old reports prints the main listed data horizontally and the data
associated in columns below them. say the name of the counselors across the
top and all the people they handle under each counselor. how would i go about
doing something like that?
the most complicated report prints out a scheduale(weekday, time/event) in
rows ordered by the phase. it then prints the phase and then all the people
in that phase.
any help on how to create these reports would be a big help and i would
appreicate any given.

there are some crosstab reports there that might also help.
