Turned on computer this morning and the display is set at 600 X 800. Went to Display setting and tried to change but the scroll bar only has 600 X 800 on it and the color is at 4 (bit). I have a Viewsonic VA720 LCD. Tried to start up viewsonic wizard Cd but it won't start due to current monitor depth. Please help

Have you tried rebooting? Did you boot into safe mode?

I tried rebooting and no luck. I went to safe mode and changed display. It works fine in safe mode, but when I restart computer normally it doesn't work right.

Try stepping though all the autostart programs, booting with one more at
a time until you find the problem. It takes time, but that should find it.
(Note it may also be some sort of driver.)

Good Luck

Mark:

I just finished one week of "hell" with our display problem.

Our system was new in April, 2003 - top of the line components running Win
XP Pro.

I was stuck 640 X 480 settings. Nothing I did solved the problem - new
drivers, re-installed drivers, safe mode, system restore etc. Finally, I
installed a new graphics video card and works great.

Guru told me the key is:
As you reboot the computer if you see a garbled display while booting it
is NOT a driver problem - it's the display card.

If during reboot everything looks great until you are on the Desktop -
it's a driver problem.

Good luck. Hope this helps.
