display problem

Connie

my granddaughter hit some keys on my laptop and now my
display is only about 3 or 4 inches wide and tall. I
cannot get it to go back to full screen unless I change
the setting to 1600 X 1200 pixels. I really need it back
to full screen and 800 X 600 pixels.

Can anyone tell me how to do it?

To make matters worse, I have been trying for days to fix
it and I have re-installed my Windows XP. Now I have to
re-activate it!!!! Which means another call to Microsoft.

Sorry I don't have an idea to help with your laptop, but isn't it really
nice that MS thinks you have nothing better to do than waste your time
playing their totally useless PA Game, when the only reason you
reinstalled is because you are trying to fix a problem with your
computer setup?

do anything.
Thanks for replying.

Hi Connie:

Try this: Right click on an empty spot of your desktop. Select
"Properties". Click the "Settings" tab. On the bottom left side of
the dialog there should be a setting for screen resolution and a
slider bar. Grab the slider bar with your mouse and adjust it to
800 x 600. Select OK and follow the prompt.

That should return the screen to its full size. Some notebook
computers are designed to run at a certain resolution for maximum
readability and clarity. Usually raising the resolution to a higher
one will decrease the screen size and sometimes even make the
characters become fuzzy.

I tried that numerous times. It didn't work. I did
finally correct my problem. I got frustrated and starting
hitting keys first holding down CTRL and them ALT. One of
them worked!!! I don't know which one.

Thanks for you help.

Well, I guess if you wish to find which combo of keys worked you can
always let your granddaughter play with the computer again. <g>

All is well that ends well. Glad you fixed it.

Regards.
