Display Problem

When I goto Control Panel-Display, the Display Properties Window does not include the Selection Buttons across the top for setting Screen Saver ....etc. If I click on a chosen theme and then click apply, the PC resets, the selection buttons appear and I am able to set and review them. However, after saving and then closing the Display Properties Window, the next time I repeat the Control Panel-Display, the Properties Windows reverts to the one missing the selection buttons. Can anyone explain and resolve this problem?

Checked as you suggested and the answer is yes it is set to auto.. but
problem remains. Lewis

run services.msc and see if your theme service is enable and set to auto....
