Is there a way to make Outlook 2003 display attached pictures within the
e-mail? Is there a addin or trick or hack to make it do that? Gosh even
Outlook Express & Gmail do this.

Thanks,

I don't mean remote pictures but rather pictures that are actually attached
to an e-mail.

MS Office Outlook was designed for the business environment. IT managers
convinced MS to force the opening of ALL attachments to the user. This would
improve security by having the user decide whether to open or not. Outlook
Express was designed for the public use and is different in that regard.

One would think pictures would be important to a business especially if
those pictures deal with product. At least they can be opened, but it would
be nicer if they were simply displayed within the e-mail.

Thanks, but I am not even going to attempt anything that complicated.

No, outlook doesn't display them inline. See

for an option.

This is alot less complicated that it looks!

In the About the Auther bit at the bottom of the Article, there's a link to
his blog. (here's the link http://blogs.officezealot.com/legault/) At the
top of the page there's a hyper link marked "here" click on that and you can
download the source already typed in. Then all you need to do is extract
the zip file, import it into Outlook, using the VB Editor, save the project,
and follow the section of the MSDN page that is titled "Launching the
Picture Attachments Helper" and hey presto, it's implemented without typing
any code.

I've just done this in the last half hour, so I think that you should be
able to manage it within a couple of hours if your not a programmer.

That's for remote images. I am talking about attached pictures.

What do you do with "frmPictureAttachments.frx"? I don't see where to
import it to.

They can be, if the sender conmposes the message properly.

Then again, all you would need to do is attach a malformed picture to
the message and you could be inviting viruses in.
