Disk Space Low Error

I have started getting a persistent message which pops up from even
notification telling me my disk space is low, even though I have used only
30 gig out of a total of 160 gigs. I am also getting strange "CANNOT WRITE
FILE" errors from some of my applications, which I think might be related to
the fact that Windows seems to think that I am low on disk space. I cleaned
up the drive, ran defragger, and ran chkdsk /f from safe mode. No errors
were turned up.

Error Message Reads
Disk free space has dropped below the minimum threshold. Free up space on
your hard disk drive by:
1. Backing up your data to a tape backup, ZIP or network drive.
2. Delete unused files.
If you are unsure which files are safe to move or delete, contact your Help
Desk or consult your software manuals.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How big is that partition? Is it the full 160Gig?
What does Properties of that drive letter show for free
space? You may not be using the whole 160 Gig for that
drive letter.

Just a guess, but perhaps your 160GB drive is divided into two or more
partitions, and the partition you are getting the message on (probably
C:) is only slightly larger than 30GB.

Start My Computer or Windows Explorer. How many Hard Drives are shown?
Right-click on C:. How big is it?

Thank you both for answering. Properties shows 26.3 GB used and 122 GB
free. I'm sure it was partitioned for maximum size. I ran a windows disk
check, which took about two hours, and there were no error reported.
Naturally, as soon as I booted up, I got the same error message about disk
space being low. I'm very sure it's making my backup operation blow up with
disk write errors, although everything else is working fine. Thanks in
advance for your help.
