Disk Partition (Windows XP Home)

Hi-

I'm trying to partition my C:- the computer is running
Windows XP Home. When I go to the Computer Management
Section, and right click on anything, no options for
partitioninng the disk pop up. The details of the system
are: Volume: C:
Layout: Partition
Typr: Basic
File System: NTFS
Status: Healthy
Capacity: 149.05 GB
Free Space: 139.61 GB
% Free: 93%
Fault Tolerance: No
Overhead: 0%

And even though the stats above say there is free sapce,
in the block diagram below that respresents the disk,
the "free "space" is not indicated (colored according to
how it should)

I also tried the command line method to no avail.

I am trying to partition, then install Windows 2000 Server
in tandem with XP.

Thanks

you can't partition the drive that has the os with the
windows program.
you will need 3rd party software, such as, partition
magic to partition the drive.

Free space is a part of an existing partition. Disk Management shows a
block per partition. It does not color free space differently. Accessing a
hard drive's properties in Windows Explorer or My Computer will show the
pie chart with a different color for free space.

Unallocated space is what's available to create another partition and is
shown as a separate block.
