Disk Management doesn't show my drive letters

My drive letters in Disk Managment no longer show in the Volume column. They
were there a few days ago, and after some computer problems, repairing XP,
and installing Diskeeper 8.0, they are no longer there. The volumes are
assigned differently (as seen in "My Computer" than they were previously,
but I'm not allowed to change them in Disk Management now. I can Add a new
letter to a drive, but can't Change the existing one.

How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Look into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices key security
properties - you must set full right to System and Administrators group.

BTW in this key you can manually delete or change partition letters. Do
not touch system partition letter as it is important to logon into
system (or before changing this letter - change Userinit key, too; it's
described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;249321)

I do have full rights for System and Administrators groups. Any other ideas
why I can't control these from Disk Management?

Sorry for this question, but do you checked security settings of all
entries in that registry key? I'm asking because I suspect there are
entries left from previous installation and system cannot delete them.
