Disk Labels

Can or does Windows XP continue to function when the disk label is changed
from Ms-dos to, for example, BSD? Would there be any adverse effects on XP's
performance? XP has been very reliable, and definitely has to stay(!), but
its always fun to play around with other OS's, and changeing the disk label
might make this easier.

If you open My Computer and right-click on
your hard drive, you can rename the drive without
any adverse effects to the performance of Windows XP.
For example, I renamed my hard drive from "Local Disk"
to my own preference, "WD Caviar SE 120GB".

I do a lot of dual booting around here...
and it's not too difficult to dual boot XP and Linux...
however...BSD uses slices and is not a good candidate for dual booting with
XP...

though I'm sure it's possible...there's a very good chance you will end up
destroying XP
in the process...

I'd advise you to put in another harddrive and then do some test
installations until
you get things figured out
