Disk is not formatted

Hi,

I've seen similar problems but no solution posted. My computer has
two physical drives. Drive C is one HDD, and drives D and E are
another (partitioned).

XP finds drive d "inconsistent" whenever I boot up but it just hangs
there when it tries to scan it. When I trying skipping it, anytime I
try to access files on the D drive, it tells me the Disk is not
formatted. However, yesterday I booted up once in which the scandisk
actually did work, and I was able to access files on it fine.

What I find most puzzling is that if it's a hardware problem, then why
does my E drive still work fine? The data on the D drive is not that
important, so I could potentially reformat the entire partition,
however, if there's an easier solution please share!

What does disk management have to say about the partition? Right click on
"My Computer", go to manage - then disk management!
