DISK CHECK HAS BEEN SCHEDULED

Hi folks,

Every time I turn on my desktop, running Windows MCE, for last couple of
days I get the blue Windows XP screen, which says - a "Disk check has been
scheduled" - which then takes an age to complete and I haven't instigated
this and is driving me crazy !

If any body can advise me how to stop this I'd be very greatfull.

This could be because Windows mark one or all of your partition as bad and it
schedule scan everytime you reboot. If you are sure that your hard disk is
working fine and there is no problem then you can try following trick or take
an immediate backup of your data.

1. Click Start - Run - type REGEDIT
2. Press F3 to bring up the Find dialog box.
3. Type "bootexecute" without quotes and press enter.
4. When registry editor find an entry for Bootexecute, in the right side
pane select that bootexecute entry and delete it.
5. Press F3 for continue search for the same entry and delete each
BootExecute entry carefully. After search finish close the registry editor
and Restart your PC.

See if this solves the problem. Let us know!

Hi RajKohli,

Many thanx - I want 2 marry u and have ur babies - joking aside ur solution
seems to have solved the problem, however, - I still get for a very breif
moment, the blue screen but only have time to read " System Boot 32
........... then its gone and it continues to start-up.

I am holding my breath as to whether or not my hard disk is working and
there are no problems - fingers, eyes and legs crossed.

Again many MANY thanx for taking the time to give advice to an old silver
surfer who's almost dangerous on a PC.

Hi RajKholi,

Todate desktop seems OK - but should i worry about the blue windows XP
screen I now get very breifly which says something like " System Boot 32
AutoCheck ...... then disappears before I can read it all and continues to
start-up.

Also, what do you think caused the original problem - was it ME or system
gremlin, so I don't do it again.

Again - Many thanx

Chris.

You must take a backup of all your important data. It seems that your hard
disk is going bad day by day and before it says Good Bye to you, you must
have everything backuped. If the blue screen is continue on its way that
means your hard disk could be causing the problem. If your hard disk is also
making some stupid noises then it is sure.

You can run third-party utilities to check your hard disk status. Some
google results for Hard Disk checking utility.

Hope this help, let us know!
