Discussion Groups in MS Outlook 2007 under Win7

How do I initiate disussion groups in MS Outlook 2007? I cannot find the
DISCUSSION GROUPS/NEWS icon that according to the information I found in the
Web should be added to the toolbar. Can anybody help me?

I forgot to say that my MS Outlook 2007 is running under Windows 7.

Outlook is not a news client. Install a client such as Windows Live Mail to
read these newsgroups or use the web interface.
There are several add-ins available as well to add newsgroup capabilities to
Outlook, but there is no native solution.

I think the OP was looking for the Go-News command, which (in previous
versions of Windows) opened the default News Reader. There appears to be no
such command in Outlook 2007 on Windows 7...

It's there... but since Win7 doesn't include a newsreader and Go, News
doesn't work with Windows Live Mail, it won't work.

such option when MS Outlook is running under Win7.

It's there. If you don't see it under the Go category in the Customize
dialog, the fix for older versions of Windows is:
To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button.

I am afraid Gordon is right. I still do not see any NEWS command in
Customize toolbars, Go category under WINDOWS SEVEN, although my Win 7 ist
cleanly installed...

Sorry Diane, I wish I could back you up on this one but it is not there for
me either;
-clean Windows 7 64-bit install + Office 2007 + WLM installed
-clean Windows 7 32-bit install + Office 2010 BETA 32-bit (no WLM installed)

Perhaps Newshound added/changed some registry setting for you?
Considering support for it must at least still be in Outlook 2007, with some
fiddling it sure would be possible to get it to work again

Newshound is not on that system. It's a test VM and has no addins installed.
OS is the RC x32. WLM is configured with an NNTP acct.

It doesn't really matter - it won't do anything since it won't work with
Windows Live Mail or any other NNTP clients.
