Discussion Group Screen display

Since the appearance of this discussion group was changed recently and Passport login required, the display doesn't appear the same from all PCs. On one of my three it appears as it should with message listings in one box and the text of messages in another box to the right. On two PCs, however, the message listing fills the screen and is doublespaced and the messages appear below that. Does anyone know how this is controlled? Internet Explorer is not set up differently on the three PCs, so I don't know what's causing this difference.

I've noticed this, too, but I can't remember all the
circumstances. I am currently coming in via

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;
[ln];ofw&product=msall

No login required for entry or responding to posts. If
you are coming in via another URL, maybe this will help.
Post back yea or nay - others may be curious about this as
well.

Didn't realize there was a difference. The newsgroup link
brings me here after expanding through Office and Access
in the leftside pane. If you're looking for a different
venue, I apologize for my confusion.

Thanks for replying. When you use the URL you gave here
how do you get to the Discussion Groups from there? I see
a link for Newsgroups, but not Discussion Groups.

Yes there is a difference. I didn't realize it, but
messages/threads posted to the one also appear in the
other. I always us the Discussion Groups and the
appearance is totaly diferent than the Newsgroups. My
question was regarding the Discussion Groups access to
these messages. The software was apparently changed for
that recently.

Thanks anyway.

The newsgroups ARE the discussion groups: they are part of USENET, and
as such have existed since before there was a World Wide Web. You can
view (and post) to these newsgroups using a variety of different
newsreader software (I use Forte Inc.'s AGENT); the old web interface
and the new web interface are just trendy, supposedly "user friendly"
newsreaders.

I agree that Outlook Express or Agent or XNews have a learning curve
and require some willingness to learn - but I don't see the new web
interface as being all that much easier!

Again... the clothes are different, but it's the same old body
underneath. <g>

Well, I use Outlook Express, and am perfectly happy with it, but you have
all piqued my curiosity and I thought I'd look at the new interface... But
when I go to support.microsoft.com/newsgroups, I don't see anything
different. Do I need to go somewhere else?

Thanks!

Since the newsgroups and the discussion groups are one and the same, then why are their many more subjects (folders) listed under Access for instance for newsgroups than for discussion groups? Just curious.

I am using Internet Explorer only and go to the following URL, which has a totally different appearance (yellow not blue for one thing) than newsgroups:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx

New to me! I'm not privy to Microsoft's internal planning for these
various web interfaces... so I really couldn't tell you.

AFAIK the *content* is the same, just the presentation differs.
