Discussion group problem - my computer?

Everytime I send a query to the newsgroup I get the follow screen:

"Communities E-Mail Notification

Thank you for taking the time to fill out the following online form. If you
do not want to submit your information, click Cancel. " ....

And much more! I hit Cancel or Continue, two options that show up and the
message is gone, but only to reappear with the next message.

Any suggestions?

Shane, I have not heard of this before. How are you getting here. I use
msnews.Microsoft.com.

Hi, Shane

This isn't a solution.....
I've been getting the same annoying windows ad nauseum when posting via the
web interface for several months now. I have no idea why they started. They
seem to be completely independent of my browser and forum settings. Like
your experience, regardless of my continue/cancel selection, they always
reappear at my next post.

Hoping for a resolution, I'll be following this thread closely.

Best Regards,

Ron

Hi Don,

I'll let you know when I get home, can't tell on the office computer.

But its nice to see someone else has the same problem.

Hi Don,

Well it looks like others are having this problem also.

One test I have made shows the following:

1. I receive a notification that one of my suggestions or question has a
response. I click that link: "Read and rate the response" it takes me to
the question and response.
2. I click Reply and write a response.
3. I click Notify me of replies and click Post.
Then I get the screen at the following address:

https://profile.microsoft.com/RegSy...4386565-ca25-47ba-8168-c42975812e84&lcid=1033

I am using SBC Yahoo as my ISP.

Any help would be nice.

Shane,
If you click on this url you may be able to subscribe directly and then add
others from there.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.excel.misc
===========
If not, and if using PRE vista
In Outlook Express
tools>accounts>news>add>news>type in msnews.microsoft.com>enter>
then, in newsgroups, search groups for excel and subscribe where desired

I am now using Vista and it's pretty much the same

The only "problem" with Outlook Express is that you can't get notification if
there are changes to a thread. At least I haven't figured it out.

Barb,

I just mark em with the little eyeglass thingee set precedence by date
received and then that and go back to look.
Alt + H will give you just the ones you have answered.

I also lurk in the L & G lists where it is all regular email.
The EXCEL-L list is hosted on a Windows NT(TM) machine running L-Soft
international's LISTSERV(R) software. For subscription/signoff info and
archives, see http://peach.ease.lsoft.com/archives/excel-l.html .

That works fine if you are doing it on one computer. It doesn't work so well
when you are accessing this site from multiple locations. Let's say I use
OE at work. When I get home, how do I know which messages have been answered?

Hi Don

Like you, I use OE and use the mark the messages in the same way.
However, I don't understand about Alt + H. For me, that just brings up
the Help menu

Hi Don,

Could you give me the complete URL because every variation of
msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.excel.misc
I try fails in IE 7.

By the way I am running VISTA ultimate.

Hi Bob,

Now that site is really nice! However, everytime I click one of the
hyperlinks, (Excel or not) I receive an error message.

"
Application not found"

Whats vista have for a newsgroup reader? XP used Outlook Express. Does
IE7 have Internet Options, Programs, Newsgroups?

Shane, I am now using Vista Home Premium windows mail. When I click on one
of those links it comes up fine and when I leave it asks me if I want to
subscribe.
OR, from windows mail
tools>accounts>add>news>etc>>>when you get to the server question type in
msnews.microsoft.com.
