Discovering Original Graphic Type

I edit Word docs that often have many graphics inserted. Is there anyway
to determine what the graphic (jpg, etc) type is? I know this is a Word
site but is there a way in PowerPoint?

In Word, unless the graphic is linked back to the original, no, there's no
way to determine this. About Powerpoint, I don't know.
