Disconnect Network Hardware: wanting to establish a home/office network

M

Merrian

Hi

I bought two computers recently, both have Microsoft XP.
Both computers are equipped with the following network
connections:

· Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC

· Wireless PCI 802.11b/g adapter WN4201B

I am trying to establish a home office network but cannot
get past the initial stages of the Set up Wizard because
both computers show the following:

"The wizard found disconnected network hardware"

· Wireless Network Connection

· Local Area Connection

Also, when I check the hardware troubleshooting it says
that they are both working fine. However, the toolbar at
the bottom right of the screen indicates "Wireless
connection unavailable" and "A network cable is
unplugged". This is the case for both the desktop and
the laptop.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Many thanks

Try disabling the connection you do not want to use. Go to Network and
Internet connections/Network Connections. Right click on the connection you
do not want to use and select disable.
