Disc Cleanup

Hey y'all,

Hopeing somebody might be able to give me a hand here:

For the longest time, whenever I go to do a "disc cleanup," the cleanup
malfunctions or errors or something, and nothing gets deleted. It goes into
"Not Responding" mode. Is there anything I can do so that I can clean up my
computer?

Here are two excellent free utilities: Crap Cleaner (yep, that's the name)
and Disk Cleaner.

You'll also want to check for spyware. Get SpyBot and Ad Aware. They're

Hi Daniel,

It may be that Disk Cleanup goes into Not Responding mode while compressing
old files. Have a look at this MSKB article, "Disk Cleanup Tool Stops
Responding While Compressing Old Files":

If you don't want to manually edit the registry, you could d/load and run
the fix that is available at Kelly Theriot's site:

Well, you could manually delete the files in the various
folders. That may even prevent future execs of Disk
Cleanup from hanging up.
