Disaster Recovery Test restore

I am attempting my first DR test of one of our servers. The server is
running Windows 2000 Advanced Server and I have the full system backed up
onto tape. I have a test server I would like to try and recover the
production server onto. Can I use a copy of Windows 2000 server as the base
OS, then load my backup software and reload from tape? Our copy of Windows
2000 Advanced server is stored off site and I do not have easy access to it,
but I do have Windows 2000 Server here in the office.

Thanks for any info you can give me,
Alan

Thanks for the quick response. Not the answer I wanted to hear, but that is
what I thought.

When you get the disks I suggest you take a copy of them and the key (I'm
sure the license allows that). You've discovered a hole in your disaster
recovery plan (failing at the first hurdle), so don't rely on a single copy
of the installation cd but make sure you have copies of that and that at
least one copy is easily accessible.
