About five yrs ago I moved to a little village in the heart of the south
wales valleys where the net was a strange and wonderful phenomenon so have
only recently returned to the fold as it were. In the past was a subscriber
to outlook express and the oe newsgroups, alt.tv eastenders, corrie etc etc.
So get back onto then net and find that oe no longer available, has been
superceded by microsoft, so download this with the promise that this is
supposed to be superior to outlook express, and that the newsgroups are so
much better. Oh yeah!!!!! says who?? brilliant if all you want to do is
chat about then wonders of microsoft.
so does anyone know where can find all the interesting groups please?

They are still mostly all there awaiting your company!!!lol! The problem is
that some of the ISP's (internet service providers) have either stopped
providing access to the news servers or disallowed any from the alt.binaries
hierachy.

Your first port of call is finding out whether your ISP still provide
access. If they do all the information should be readily available on their
site. If not your choices are to sign up for a paid newsservice or a free
service (usually a non-binary service - so no picture downloading or
posting - and usually they are in testing mode so good but not as reliable
as a paid service).

Motzarella are providing a free service, carry most of the groups but
anything over 32kb is blocked so you wont see any binaries.

Individual.net provide a very low cost non binary service.

You can access the news groups via google but its far from ideal.

And there are plenty of paid servers who do either a monthly fee or block
accounts. You should be able to find something suitable at newzbot.com who
carry information about groups and servers.

)

I don't understand your reference to "download this with the promise..."
Windows Mail is not a downloadable app. Perhaps you are running
something else?

Heh, there is no such thing as "oe newsgroups". Outlook Express is a kind
of desktop client to access a news server. Windows Mail has the same
capability. Somehow you have stumbled upon the server that is home to
Microsoft newsgroups. Google "free news server" or check out one of the
free or almost free ones that I use.

Rec.arts.tv.uk.eastenders appears to be fairly active. ;^)
