Disappearing windows!

Could someone help please?
It's just a small but VERY annoying thing I would like help with.
When I have several windows open and try to move a file from one to another
once the pointer has moved away from the target window it disappears behind
the others. This happens when the windows are 'restored down' and not
maximised. I hope I'm making sense here.
It's most annoying because when you are working between open windows they
keep ducking behind the others!
I think I must have altered the settings somewhere but cannot remember when
or where!

This is normal behavior. When you select another window, that window will
get focus and come to the top. When you drag a file to another folder, if
even a small part of the target window is showing, drag the file to that
part of the target window and it should get focus and come to the top. You
can also drag the file to the Taskbar and hover over the target window
button and that folder will come to the top.

It is only normal if windows overlap. I think what Jan wants is what
Windows was named for. Multiple Windows. Microsoft doesn't call it's
operating system Window. Its's called WINDOWS for a reason.

This can be easily accomplished by resizing the windows applications
appear in then arranging them on your desktop by dragging the window's
title bar while holding down your left mouse button so you have
multiple windows shrunk down to some smaller size yet all appearing on
screen at once. It helps to have a larger wide screen monitor.

While the focus changes from window to window depending on what
application you're using at the present time you can avoid the
annoying window dropping to the task bar or going to the back of the
line by doing what I just described.

In fact you can often open multiple instances of the same application.
Like Windows Explorer and drag files from one window to another with
each pointing to different locations on your system with both windows
Explorer appears in remaining open at once.

No reason to feel bad.
We all have to learn and asking questions is the most intelligent thing you
can do. :)
Have fun!
