Disappearing focus on text fields

Hi,

Very often when I click on a text input field with the mouse the
cursor will appear briefly and then disappear. I will type away, eg; a
username for logging on to a site, and when I look up the field is
empty and the cursor is not in the text box. I definitely clicked the
field, I am an experienced web developer, it's not down to user error.
Something is definitely happening. It's been happening for months and
I've finally got round to investigating it properly.

Anybody know what this might be? My main reason for asking is that I
want to know if this is the behaviour of a buggy keylogger. If it is
then somebody somewhere will have access to all my user names and
passwords.

This happens about 1 in every 3 times I click on an input field. On
other pcs, eg; at work or my friend's, this doesn't happen.

Thanks

Hi,
Sounds like a malware problem, but first try this easy test...
[XP SP2] From IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable add-ons to see if one of
them is the culprit. Re-enable them one at a time until the problem
returns.

If not using XP SP2, go to Internet Options> Advanced>
uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions." Restart. That will tell you
if a browser extension is causing the problem. You will still have to find
the troublesome program, add-on, etc.

If the problem isn't caused by a legitimate browser add-on, see these sites

Look for an "Important- Read this first" type message so that protocol is
followed and the process of analyzing the log works as designed.

Hope this helps,
