Disappearing cursor

My cursor is there - until I hit the Enter key. Then the cursor (insertion
point) disappears. I can still type and see what I type, but there's no
cursor on the next line - or anywhere - after I hit Enter.

Hi Sea,

Probably, you need to update your graphics card driver.

Hi, Cindy.

MY Word works fine, cursor and all, but I was posting the question for my
Uncle (the SeaDaddy).

He has a Dell computer that came with WinXP Home and the Works Suite,
including Word 2002. The cursor works fine on other documents, but not on
one particular letterhead.

The cursor appears wherever we click the mouse to establish the Insertion
Point. It stays visible while we type on that line. When we press Enter to
go to a new line, the cursor disappears. And it stays disappeared until we
click to make it visible again. Multiple presses of Enter insert multiple
new lines, but the cursor doesn't reappear until we click again. If we
click the Paragraph icon, the Paragraph markers show up, but not the cursor.
He apparently has some unusual setting in this particular document, but we
can't figure out what it might be.

Searching in Help for "insertion point" just gets me answers about inserting
pictures, etc. Searching for "cursor" comes up empty. I can't think what
else to search for. :>(

If this is a FAQ, please just point me to the answer.

Thanks.

Hmmmm. If you press Alt+F9 to display the field codes, do you find anything at
this point in that paragraph that was hidden, before? Can you select and delete
it?

Actually, the safest thing to do would be to select this and a couple of the
following paragraphs. Edit/Cut. Edit/Paste Special as plain text. Then reapply
any formatting.
