Disabled Network card

I have a Dlink 604+: ADSL modem, wireless Router (4 port)
I have a winXP laptop, with internal wireless lan pci
adapter working correctly, accessing internet over
wireless lan.
I have a (second) Win2000 laptop, with internal Intel(R)
PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter which is
failing. It will not connec to wireless LAN. It connects
successfully when plugged in to router (ethernet
adapter/cable).
The device manager reports the wireless network adapter
is functioning properly.
The status of the connection against the wireless device
is reported as "Cable Unplugged"

any help greatly appreciated

I have the same problem with almost the same equipment.
Looks like it failed after putting on recent security
patches. The failure applies to both a CISCO, DLINK, and
LINKSYS PCMCIA cards, all of which worked fine before.
There have been no noticable changes to the network. Any
assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
