Disabled Items in Data Toolbox?

Very familiar developing SQL Client/Server apps in VS2003/ado.net.

Am now attempting to do the same on a Windows Mobile Pocket PC device using
VS2003.

When creating a Smart Device project, none of the icons for data
connections, adapters, datasets, etc are available in the toolbox If I show
all tabs I can see them but they are greyed out, as if they are not
compatible with the device.

I know that the ovjects can be manually coded, but why would the visual data
tools (property editors, adapter wizards, visual SQL tools, etc) not be
available in a Smart Device Project?

There's no support for data designers in VS 2003 for device projects.

This support is available in VS 2005 for NETCF V2 projects.

As to why it's unavailable, the answer is: time and resource constraints.

Ilya
