Disable the Auto Area Code

Most of my phone contacts are local and don't require an
area code. When I type a new phone number Outlook
automatically adds the area code to it. This causes some
readability problems when I hot sync to my pda. Is there
a way to disable the automatic adding of area codes?

I have exactly the same problem! And it's really really annoying!
c'mon there's got to be a solution for this. Is asking a phone no. to be displayed the way you enter too much to ask from an expensive suite like this?

And a another problem with this is..

Say I enter 2 phone numbers for a contact. Btw I live in Australia. One land line and one mobile.
Landline: 97568744
Mobile: 0421478963

This is how outlook will store it.

Landline: (02) 9756-8744 (I don't want 02 to be added coz in Aus if u add the area code expilicitly to a local no it gets treated as a regional no.)
Mobile: (04) 2147-8963 (why is mobile no. get formatted as a land no?? with an area code even if I enter in the mobile field?)

As you can see this is really inconvenient.
