Hello,

Does anyone know a way to disable Explorer security warning when opening
file with extention like .exe .com .bat?

It look like the level1 security in Outlook, but can't find an
equivalent for Explorer.

Any idea/suggestion are welcome

Hello Benny,

Thank for your answer...

I know how that box work... But I want to disable it for .exe also...
I'm able to protect myself, this warning is causing me more problem than it
solve.

Is there a way to disable it for good? Is it a registry settings?

Thank

Dear Michel,

Internet Explorer contains a predefined, hard-coded list of file extensions
that it inherently distrusts. The File Download dialog box cannot be
prevented for any files of these types. The "Always ask before opening"
option will be grayed out on the dialog box and you won't be able to select
it. For .exe files, there is not a method to disable the dialog in Internet
Explorer.

The follwoing article may help explain the behavior.

It's interesting for IE, but the problem I have is with Windows Explorer
(the file browser/Manager), (explorer.exe)...

It seem to be so tightly integrated with IE now that it even have is major
annoyance...

Any solution for Explorer not IE, that will fix that issue?

Windows 2000 with IE 5.5 or 6.0 was not having this problem...

Dear Michel,

Thank you for your reply.

Based on the information, it seems relate to the File Types settings in
Windows Explorer. Let us check as follows:

1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, choose Options.
3. Click the File Types tab.
4. Check if the EXE file type is listed. If so, highlight and delete it.
5. Restart the computer to check the issue again.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and have a good day!
