Disable copying stuff with formatting?

Is there a way to disable copying stuff with formatting?

For example, I went on a website and copied a URL.When I paste it into an
email it's bolded. It took the formatting from the website.

When I copy other stuff and paste them into Word it takes the formatting as
well. I'm just copying text and don't need all the other crap. It copies
most everything on the website when I paste into Word it's so slow because
it's trying to paste and keep the layout of everything.

Use ALT-E-S and select unformatted text under MS Word. Or download
PureText v2.0.

Thanks. I just downloaded that before getting your message here. I figured
that would be a workaround and I was hoping there was a Windows thing I can
do to totally disable it, but it doesn't appear to be so.

Especially for Word look here:

It depends on the program. Generally, when something is put on the
clipboard, it's put there in several formats. When it's pasted, the
program receiving it decides which format best meets its needs. So a
program that's capable of handling formatted text takes a version that
includes formatting.

Some programs give you some control over this. In Word you can use
Edit|Paste Special and decide what you want to get. Paste Special also
exists in Outlook and Excel, and some other programs.

Thanks for that clarification. I just figured it was copied in HTML so it's
pasted in HTML (if the program supports that).

I've since started using PureText and am very happy.
