DISABLE AUTO CONVERT FOR GOD'S SAKE!

Click TOOLS in the menu and then select OPTIONS. In the OPTIONS dialog box,
click the EDIT tab and on the right is a series of check boxes, the 3rd one
is SHOW PASTE OPTIONS BUTTONS. Click this check box to turn it on, click OK
to exit the dialog box. Now when you paste data into a worksheet the PASTE
OPTIONS button appears. Clicking this button gives you a menu of what and
how you want to paste.

When you copy paste in excel 2003 it auto converts to date or number etc i
dont want this. HELP!

Are you copying within XL or are you copying from an external application.
What is the format of the data you are copying. An example and a few more
details would really help...

Copying table from internet explorer and pasting to excel. I like it quick
and easy no need to use import menu and waste time, but it does mees it up
sometimes with auto convertion to other format.

e.g. type "6.30" in notepad and copy paste to excel it will convert to
"june.30".

When I do that I get 6.3.

Sometimes this helps...

When you go to paste into Excel, select the destination then right click and
use Paste Special. You should have a few choices available: HTML, Unicode
text, text.

It does not help because its already on and its just lets u chose u want
destination formating or source, there is no option to paste "as-is" it
converts to date anyway when its just numbers that i want to past or can i
past as text somehow?
Converting cells to text and then pasting does not help it still converts to
date format.

I use Excel 2007 now but it was the same with all previous versions.
I NEVER use dates in my excel files. Where is the option to tell Excel NOT
to interpret 6-5 as a date ? I want to see 6-5 in the cell when I type 6-5...
This has been a long fight for several years...
I don't want to have to tell him that I don't like dates anymore, on this
document and on all other ones I may ever create...
Pleas help!
