DirectX Direct3D error DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS

I am having problems with two games written by the same company. The games
work on older video cards but not on mine. The games are Empire of magic and
Shadow Vault. I have a new BFG 6800GT with current drivers and DirectX 9.0c.
I get this error everytime I run either game. DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS
If I disable the Direct3d in DXDAIG the game runs but at like 2 frames a
second. It is unplayable. Strategy First (the publisher of Shadow Vault) says
they are looking into it. The publisher Summitsoft ( for Empire of Magic)
does not even list the game as supportable anymore (it is 2 years old)
www.Mayhem.sk is the company that designed both games but I have not heard a
peep from them in two weeks and I sent 5 E-mails. Any ideas or help would be
great..
