directx 9 help

Whenever I try to install direct x 9 it says that it
hasnt been tested with windows xp or something so
therefore the necessary files will not install. This has
also happened with soem of the files durign the windows
xp update installs. I am really confused. Unfortunately
without directx 9 installed I can't play several games,
including STar Wars Galaxies which is the game I was
trying to open when this problem was first discovered.
DOes anyone know of anything I can do or how to fix the
problem?

Hi Gollumt17,

Here are a few solutions for the DirectX 9 "Logo Testing" error:

1. Click Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services
Scroll down to "Cryptographic Services", double click it and
change Startup type to: Automatic and click the "Start" button.

2. The resolution at the bottom of this page worked for some users:

3. If the problem persists, go to c:\windows\system32 and rename
the catroot2 directory to catrootold. Catroot2 might be too full.

4. Save and then Open the "DX9 Logo Error" patch on Line 189
for WinXP at: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

5. Repairing Windows is our final option. Boot from your Windows
CD (you may have to press F12 while starting up, or change the
bootup order in your BIOS) and then follow the instructions at:

Also, Step 5 can only work if you have a full XP install CD (OEM, Retail
Upgrade or Full) and not those stupid Recovery CD/partitions.
