Direct draw 3d

Direct draw does not work on my pc anymore, running xp pro, with direct x 9.
Dx report tools say that it is version 9 and all ok, but direct draw is
unavailable due to no hardware being available. The ati all in wonder rage
pro card is still there! I have tried to reinstall direct x 9 , but it will
not do that. Any suggestions happily recieved! Thank you

Most likely cause is that the card doesnt support DirectX 9 that is a
VERY old card. As a matter of example the Nvidia 4200's don't properly
support anything past 8.1, the the AIW rage Pro is much older.

Thanks bob, appreciate that advice, dont use that pc for anything much than
internet and work stuff.... lots of things dont work on it anymore, is it
possible to get rid of direct x 9 and go back to earlier version?, i just
hate the idea of having to reformat the hard disc!

DirectX is an embedded part of XP, you won't find a Add/Remove item
for it in Control Panel. System Restore is an option, if it (DX9) hasn't
been
installed for long.
Just do a Google for Remove DirectX, there are a number of tools around
that allow you to move back to earlier versions without a re-install,.....
As always, backup or image before this type of action. Just in case.

DXbuster may be worth a try. But have a good backup incase off fireworks.
