direct cable connection betw two XP PCs

Hello,

Does anyone can help with configuring
direct cable connection (on COM port)
between two XP Pro PCs?
One is configured as a host and another as
a guest. When trying to establish the connection
the message "Error 777" appears.

I don't know what is causing the problem, but a far better hookup is to use
a Category 5 crossover cable and a Network Interface Card (NIC) in each
computer, in order to create a Local Area Network (LAN). Data transfers from
one PC to the other will be extremely fast - much, much faster than anything
achievable with DCC, especially the plodding s-l-o-w speed of a serial port
(COM).
