Digital LCD

I have been running my Samsung 193T on analogue for a couple of years.

Having recently changed my graphics card to one with digital out I also
bought a digital cable to take FULL advantage of the monitors digital
capability.............and if I were being honest it has made very little
difference to the viewing quality.

Is this the norm or are there certain programs/applications were the quality
would be noticeable.

A lot of posters swear text is clearer and so are graphics in general.
Frankly Im with the other poster and Ive switched to DVI and I cant
notice a big difference either. Maybe you have to have the right
monitor and high quality cable or something but Ive never noticed a
huge difference.

I recall in some tests Anandtech made a big deal about the issue and
seemed to downgrade any monitors with only analog connections. I
vaguely recall some tests he had where he said there were some really
negative effects in some games when you dont use the DVI connection.
I havent really seen anyone else talk about it though. I havent really
tested various games both ways so who knows.

The higher the bandwidth of the connection (high resolution
and refresh rate), the more difference DVI will make. At
moderate, say 1280x1024 resolution the difference is slight,
some may not even notice it in typical uses or even in more
comprehensive image test tools. Others are wanting LCD for
the very best per-pixel accuracy possible and will want DVI
any time it's possible. If your use don't reveal the
difference then there is no need to switch but I'd be
inclined to only go with analog now to save a buck with
1280x1024 or lower res or less demanding uses.

Some people may even prefer a bit of pixel bleeding it
seems. They'll get an LCD then enabled ClearType, they'll
like the settings in apps like Adobe Acrobat that soften
text, images and lineart. Seems a bit silly to me to do
that but then again I've seen some pretty horrific Acrobat
files that only looked decent with smoothing enabled (seems
they may have poofed it with smoothed turned on and didn't
realize how bad it looked without).
