Difficulty inserting pictures to FP

G

Guest

Hi,

I'm trying to insert pictures into my web page but it's not working. Instead
of the picture, I get a red X when in design view in FP. I copied the picture
into Publisher and it was fine. I then copied the image from Publisher and
pasted-it into FP and it was fine. The pictures were originally in .tif
format. I changed it to .gif and .jpg but was encountering the same problem.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nikki

1. You have to use a image editor to convert the photo into a GIF or JPG image.
2. Then you would import the image into your currently open FP web / site, then you would insert it
on your page.

Open your web and choose File, Import and import the image into your web.
Then, when you do an Insert, choose the image that's in your web, not one on
your hard drive.

Leave publisher out of the picture.

Do your image sizing/file type changing in a proper image editor.

File | Import your images into a folder (such as "Images") in your open FP
web.

Then, insert them on the page and save.

Publish your web.

Then you still have a .tif file with the wrong extension.
You must load the file into a graphics editor, and Save As .jpg or .gif
If there are more than 256 colours in the image (as in a 'photo), save
as .jpg, otherwise save as .gif.

You can't just change the file extensions, you have to change the actual format of the file, which
requires a image editor application.

I also always recommend IrfanView, but I note that the poster mentioned
Paint (which of course all Windows OSs will have)

Even Paint will convert between .bmp .jpg .gif .tif and .png, won't it ?

Yeps.
I've never been partial to Paint though.
Paint.net is very good though and it's open source I think...well at least
it's free.

Lately I've been using ACDsee Pro, cause I've been shooting, sorting and
editing literally thousands of photos......but I am going blind editing all
this stuff. :)...oh yeah...for free too.

Yeah, we have thousands of pictures too

I once had ACDSee which was bundled with a digital camera I bought for my
wife. But the camera didn't perform as expected (the macro facility was
crook), and the shop allowed us to return it and refunded the price on
another - much better - camera. The replacement was Panasonic DMC LZ2. Of
course, as always happens, now Panasonic make a better camera in this model
range.

I still have all the exe files, etc. saved on a backup but I don't know If I
can use it or need to install it - which I can't do since I don't have an
installation CD

Anyway, we use Microsoft Picture It! and it, together with IrfanView, does
everything we need.
