Difficulties in participating in forums

Dear Friends, I'm having some problems here and if anyone could suggest a
solution I would be very grateful indeed. I would like to point out,
however, that I am not technically minded in the least, so if you do have
some suggestions I would ask you kindly to keep things simple. I'm 55, so
just pretend I'm 5.
I am a member of various forums, and I have the same problem with most of
them, so I assume the problem is with my computer, not with the forum.
Basically, the forum is constantly asking me to log on, even though I've
already done so.
Sometimes when I go to a new page, the new page shows I'm no longer logged
on. Or sometimes, when I try to post, the forum says I'm not logged on, even
though the top of the page shows that I am and the bottom of the page says
I'm allowed to post. Sometimes, when I click on Post, I have to log on; I
type up my post and then have to log on again before the forum will accept my
post. Most annoying is when I type up a post, submit it, have to log on
again, and find that my post was lost in the meantime, so that I have to
re-type it. I can never post via the Quick Reply box. A forum will never
accept one of my posts there.
I have a wireless connection to the net, and generally speaking I'm
satisfied with it. Sometimes web pages fail to come up, sometimes the
response is a bit slow, but it's no huge problem. The only real problem is
this one concerning the forums. I contacted the technical guy with one of
the forums, and he suggested that I clear my cookies. I did that, but it
didn't help the problem in any way.
So if anyone can help, I'll be very grateful. I suppose I should mention
that I have an HP computer and Internet Explorer 8. If I need to supply any
more information than that, I'll do my best. Many thanks. Seneca the Duck

Hello,

Try running IE8 with add-ons disabled.

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
Add-ons) to start IE8 without any add-ons. Try using the browser and see if
the same problem arises.

If the problem does not occur again, start IE8 normally, go to Tools (if the
menu bar does not appear, hit the Alt key on the keyboard) > Manage Add-ons.

The suspect here is Google Toolbar or any similar search add-ons. Try
disabling them.

Or just disable all the add-ons under 'Toolbars and Extensions'. Enable each
add-on one at each time and see if the problem occurs again. Once it occurs
again after enabling an add-on, you have nailed the culprit.

That was the correct suggestion. Did you also enable them? Do you have
cookies from the pertinent sites?
