What means by "Allow sub-frames to navigate across different domains?"?

My brower is MS IE6 in WinXP Pro SP2. I setup Google search such that it
will open a new window when i click the link in the search result page.
It happens when i click the link a dialog window with Yes/No buttons
pops up saying ""Allow sub-frames to navigate across different domains?"
The window gone when I press Yes or No and then nothing comes up, no new
window is opened for the link. I don't understand the dialog. How could
i handle this problem and make a new window open from the links i click
in the Google search result page?

Thank you!!

I found there is a Disable/Enable/Prompt options for 'Navigate
Sub-frames across different domains" in the Zone Security tab.
I set it up as follows:

Internet : Enable
Local Intranet : Enable
Trusted sites : Enable
Restricted sites: Disable

After that when i double click the link(s) in the search results
page of Google no more dialog window shows up,also no new window
nor re-used window is opened for the link(s). ALL links are dead!

Please help, thank you.

Most likely you have not place any site in the trusted zone,
you don't have a local LAN, and your default is to put all
browsing in the restricted zone.

Easiest and safest action, put site you know and trust in
the safe zone, such as microsoft.com and google.com.

There is no site in the "restricted zoon". I put google.com; google.ca;
microsoft.com and msn.com in the "trusted zone".

In google.com i went to "Preference" and scrolled to the bottom next to
"Result Window" and save, a cookie was stored in my pc for my
preference. I check the box for "Open search results in a new browser
window". I expected that every doubleclick on the links in the search
result will open a NEW window. That is if i doubleclick 10 links there
will be 10+1 windows opened on my desktop.

I went to www.google.com and entered a word for search. 100 search
results came out (say window A). A new window (say window B) opened for
the website (now there were 2 browser windows on my desktop) when i
doubleclicked a link in the search result. Then i doubleclicked a second
result the website opened in window B instead of open a new window.

Did I miss something in the setup or do I misunderstand the preference
in the google search? I will be happy if i could open NEW window for
every links in the google search results, please help.

BTW i have a small LAN for my home pc's. I think there is nothing
related to this.

Define what you mean by "I setup Google search".

In google.com i went to "Preference" and scrolled to the bottom, next to
"Result Window" checked the box for "Open search results in a new
browser window" and save, a cookie was stored in my pc for my
preference. I expected that every doubleclick on the links in the search

I'm wondering if we are misunderstanding things here.

The option to open 'search results' in a new window does not affect the
*links* in the search result window.

That is, you go to www.google.com. Do a search. The results appear in a
new window. Now, click on a link in *that* window. That link is not
affected by the Google option.

Hold down the ctrl key when clicking the link, or right click and select
open in new window. Also, in advanced options turn off the option to reuse
windows for shortcuts.

Doubleclick isn't the action you want. It's Shift-Click (which I think is what
Sandi probably meant to write in her last reply to you instead of Ctrl-Click.)

However, even better would be to use MSN search.
It has an option in its Settings page which would allow
you to open a link in a new window with just a single click.
(Perhaps doubleclicking on one then would open it twice. <eg>)

Hmm... Oh, I see that's what you were trying to do with Google's
Preferences page.

http://www.google.com/preferences

Apparently it doesn't work as well as MSN's equivalent feature?
Let's look at the source then to see why.

MSN's links all contain this string: target="_blank"

Google's links contain the same string? It works for me.
Are you sure you clicked on Save Preferences and allow
Cookies at least for that site?

Anyway, stop doubleclicking. I'm not sure what that would do.
Perhaps the second click would just stop the first one and would
result in nothing happening. Etc.
