Dial up Networking

Crow

I am unable to set up dial up networking. When I try to
Create a new connection XP starts the wazard then it ask
for the Network Connection Type I select connect to the
Internet then I select Set up my connection manually but
at the next screen Connect using a dial up modem is grayed
out. I discovered by looking at the event viewer that
Remote Access Connection Manager Service has fail to
start. The error is something about access denied for
user. I am using the OWNER account on my XP home computer.
When I went into user accounts to give my self
administrator privalages I found that I already have them.
I tried to set up a new account with a username of
administrator but XP said it already had an account with
that name. I did not see it under user accounts though.
Can any one help with this matter?

Thanks in Advance

This is the usual problem:

You Cannot Create a Network Connection After You Restore Windows XP

I had the same problem, I had win xp home and had the dial
up but when I upgraded to xp pro I lost the dial-up option
as the same as you, got mad after 3 days of trying to fix
it, I decided to start over new formated my hard drive and
then installed windows 98se then setup the dial-up so I
could get online, Then I upgraded to xp pro with the
upgrade option and everything works for dial-up, now the
only thing I have to do is try to get the darn home
networking going. But I hope I helped a bit. Good Luck
