Dial up connection & Passwords

WIN XP (SP1) Home edition (OEM version - no Original Disk)
256 Mb ram
120gb Hard disk

I'm having a problem with Dil-up Connection remembering my
password. It keeps the User name but seems to change the
password or adds extra letters. For example my password
is nine chars long, however if I ask Windows to save
passworrd, then this is changed to 14/15 chars long and
dial up fails.

Please email an answer as I don't often get onto the
newsgroups.

Many thanks

I've heard that Windows adds extra numbers or letters to the Password to
make it hard for someone to figure them out on a system. But your password
still works. Well most of the time, I think it just screws it up sometimes
because my provider says incorrect password. So I just delete the icon and
start over then it works.
