Dial-in modem problem

My modem will dial-in to my server only from a fresh boot.
When I bring the computer up from hibernate or standby
and try to dial-in, the dial-in box says "no dial tone.
Make sure modem is connected to computer and telephone."
Then I shut down, re-boot and it's fine. I don't have
this problem on an older machine running Win98. Small
thing, but annoying. Can anyone suggest a fix for this?
Thanks, George

I had the same problem, it turned out to be a modem driver issue. I was sent
link to the latest driver and it fixed the problem.
I have a PCTel HSP56 MR Modem and the default XP driver seemed to be causing
the problem. The latest Conextant driver - sent ot me by an MVP helper fixed
it.
Suggest you visit the website of your modem manufacturer and find a new
driver!
