DHCP error

I have DHCP enabled, the Network Connection status is enabled (per the icon
and "status"), Its showing that packets are being sent, but not recieved.
The connections work for other machines, also DHCP enabled. but I can't ping
anything... I have tried to release and renew the address, but times out/
cant reach dhcp server. what is the problem? thanks in advance for your
help...

Uninstall any antivirus or internet firewall if you have installed on the computer
disable the internal fire wall of windows also
